A passion ought not to be rushed. It mustn’t be thrown about and abused, like a child’s toy. Yet, neither should it be stowed away in the forgotten dusty closets of our hearts. It mustn’t be destroyed or hated or held too tightly, for all that is given is returned at last. Do not forget it nor neglect it, like a thing that is common, since everything that comes down from above is good. But cherish it, hold it, remember it in your heart; and when the day comes that you are to return it, give it joyfully, bringing back to mind all the good that you have been given.
