Give a man a loaf of bread, and he will eat for a day; give a man purpose, and he will eat for a lifetime.
I find proverbs to be useful, though not always lovely. There are many forms of writing, and their purposes are not all the same. A proverb is meant to instruct in life, bringing wisdom that brings life. Many have read those of Solomon, and there are many, many others like him, who found inspiration to write in the same way–though not all wrote by the same spirit. A proverb is like a tiny stone that one may place in their shoe. It is often uncomfortable, but with time, yields the fruit of calloused heels, able to bear the way of life with greater ease.
A proverb is for the wanderer, the laborer, and the trader, the one who has little, but seeks to have much. They are for the one who does not know, for the one who has not had, for the one who has seen their own face in a mirror. Wisdom appears as many trees and many rivers, which do not venture to other gardens or seek other ways; they are all tended by one, whose name is Elohim.
